Catalonia El Retiro Hotel - Madrid

While the location is convenient due to the metro line being nearby, it can feel a bit distant from the main attractions. The bathroom showed signs of wear and required maintenance, and street noise could be bothersome due to the lack of soundproofing in the windows.

The facilities in the a double room were OVERALL NICE, beds were exceptionally comfortable. The bathroom was spacious, it was nice to have a bidet. The hotel had a favourable location near Parque de Tierno Galvan.

Accommodating staff, answered all questions. The rooms were all nicely decorated and luxury with a full-length mirror.

The rooms are modern and immaculate, with high standards of cleanliness that enhance the stay. I was thrilled to find a Nespresso machine in my room, allowing me to enjoy delicious coffee at my convenience. The breakfast spread was excellent, with a wide variety of fresh and scrumptious options to kick-start my day.

the design and size of the room and the bathroom, that there was a baker's shop next to the hotel with possibilities to have breakfast

Loved the spacious room with a big bath tub! The morning staff gave great tips about the city, and breakfast was delicious with friendly service. Location was awesome-lots of local restaurants nearby. Plus, the WiFi was fantastic 🚀

We needed a comfortable place near bus station to stay only for a sleep (1 night). This hotel was good for this goal. It is next to stop of metro and near bus station Sur.

Bad smell in the room. We requested double bed but got 2 single beds wich were shifted. Those beds all time moved apart

Of course, I was surprised by the beautiful level of service- for the price 66 euros per night- excellent!

Comfortable Stay with Room for Improvement

The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Street noise was a bit bothersome. Suggest opting for a room away from the street for a quieter experience. The breakfast selection was satisfying, a great start to the day!

Bearing in mind its location and the prices offered by other nh hotels of the same category, it's too expensive.

Having arrived to Madrid in our own car, the hotel private parking was a bless. The hotel has a bus stop right in front, a subway station nearby (with connections to anywhere in the city) and the famous Atocha station just 2Km away. Therefore, we made good use of their public transportation to visit the city. We found the hotel quiet and the staff very friendly, helpful and polite. As mentioned in other reviews, there is a coffee shop/pastry next to the hotel with a typical Spanish breakfast (if you feel like trying it). Meals are also available there. Do not miss Come & Calla (at Calle de los Mesejo, also next to the hotel) for a wonderful dinner.
